Sorry for being painfully predictable but it's your fault for inviting me to a new forum! A real music legend, the music is blissful. The Cool, Cool River & Can't Run But are currently my songs from the incredible album The Rhythm of The Saints, my personal favourite album from him definitely.

I see Paul's being pretty prolific lately with the SNL 40 special and appearing on Portlandia next week. Hopefully this means the new album will be coming out in the near future

I read on IMDb that the title of the 2014 film Obvious Child was inspired by the Rhythm Of The Saints track. I can't see how, so I'm pretty curious to watch it.

Ed - Wow, well the song (as are most of his songs) are like stories and have deeper meanings. Can't wait to see that film! John - Yes I'm so excited for a new album, I'm so curious! Can't wait to hear more news.

I've never truly delved into his solo work, Graceland, Rhythm of the Saints and his 1977 Greatest Hit's is about all I've heard, oh and Heart and Bones in one of those cups.
Gracelands holds a special place in my heart, as my mum and I used to listen to it together back in 1986 when it came. It was just me and her living together and we didn't have a TV, so a lot of time was spent listening to the Radio and LP's and Gracelands was probably our favourite. We used to love singing along to Homeless, "many dead tonight, it could be you", "somebody say..." brilliant stuff.
It makes for great memories when I put it on these days, particularly the tracks Diamonds, Crazy Love, Myth and as said Homeless.
Of his other stuff I've always really liked Slip Slidin' Away, Still Crazy After All These Years, Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, Kodachrome, Mother and Child Reunion and The Obvious Child.

Nice to see you have a connection with his music Martin! Great picks there, Graceland is great but out of the two world fusion albums (Graceland & Saints), the latter is definitely the best one IMO but both are quality. Here's a duet I discovered recently btw: Like To Get To Know You (With Edie Brickell)Kinda country, I really like it!

Paul's performance on Portlandia consisted of about two lines of dialogue. The joke was more about how the couple at the Q&A were making their question to Paul more about them rambling
