John Waters and Divine

Anyone a fan of these classic shock movies? I saw Pink Flamingos years ago and didn't know what to think.... but a few days ago I watched Female Trouble and adored everything about it.

In hindsight it's pretty amazing they got away with some of the stuff they did, especially that it was 40+ years ago and these movies were starring a drag queen.

There's several moments in Female Trouble that had me splitting so badly I had to watch again, like after Dawn Davenport (Divine's character) had acid thrown on her face by Aunt Ida for divorcing her nephew and then they unveil her with her disfiguring acid scars and everyone convinces her that she's the most gorgeous woman alive. "Acid does what Eterna-27 cannot" kills me every time

I've seen a few of them, don't know if I'd call myself a fan of them but as you kind of intimate they are worth seeing for the sheer WTF factor. Divine eating the dog shit scene, I mean WTF!

yes, that scene in Pink Flamingos was so gross.

Divine has to be the only actor in history to literally have a sex scene with himself since in Female Trouble, the guy who picks up the hitchhiking Dawn and has sex with her was Divine out of drag lol
